Description
Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc. has an immediate need for an Applications Chemist - OEM Industrial Coatings in our Resins and Polymers applications department at our Brecksville, Ohio location.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Implement medium and long-term development projects for OEM industrial coatings applications (non automotive e-coat).



  • Support the Product Development Group to develop new polymers for OEM industrial coatings markets by identifying needs and assessing materials during the product development program.



  • Evaluate experimental polymers against controls using industry test protocols and provide results and recommendations to development team.



  • Support customer evaluations of Lubrizol Advanced Materials polymers for OEM industrial coatings applications.



  • Develop technical literature for new products developed.



  • Work seamlessly as a member of cross-functional project teams



  • Provide training to Lubrizol Advanced Materials personnel, agents and customers.



  • Maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions.



  • Provide progress updates through the regular issuance of written and verbal reports.



  • Up to 10% domestic travel (some international may be required).SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field.

    • Minimum 3 years experience with formulating, applying and testing waterborne OEM industrial coatings (non automotive e-coat).

    • Ability to work safely within LZAM laboratories and customer facilities.

    • Strong record keeping skills.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE).

    • Strong PC skills including MS Office, Access and Lotus Notes.

    • Solid project management skills.

    • Self-starter, highly motivated toward achievements, results oriented.

    • Ability to travel as required.

    CONSIDERED A PLUS:

    • Advanced degree.

    • Knowledge of the polymers and additives used in above mentioned market formulations.

    • Highly developed understanding of OEM industrial coatings applications.

    SALARY RANGE: $49,000 TO $66,000

    NO RELOCATION AVAILABLE
